On Friday, 23 November, RENDEZVOUS! DJs Alfonso and George Ben Sun broadcasted an hour-long mix of French and Italian library and soundtrack selections on Brooklyn-based Viva Radio. In case you didn't hear it at your local American Apparel store while shopping on Black Friday, the fine folks at Viva have since archived our episode and is available for streaming here.
This past Monday, fellow RENDEZVOUS! resident AM (a.k.a. George Ben Sun) and I made a return visit to record collector extraordinaire (and good friend) John Basil's (a.k.a. Heru Avenger) home. We spent our time there flipping through his enormous record collection**, listening to tunes, going "ooh and aah" over his insane VHS and literature collections, and even making some trades! Ubiquity Records' Henry Clearstar returned to RENDEZVOUS! on 6 June 2012 to drop another incredible set of tunes sourced from all original vinyl. Unfortunately, I don't have a tracklist, but I'm sure you'll recognize a few tracks. I do know that it starts off with "Space Woman" by Herman's Rocket (J.P. Massiera). It's an amazing selection of disco-funk-psych...you just have to check it out!
Join us on Wednesday, the 6th of June as we welcome the return of Ubiquity Records' own Henry Clearstar and collector extraordinaire Heru Avenger! We are always excited when these cats roll in for a session because they are true diggers and always blow us away with their insane records (see 'A Visit to the Heru Avenger Archives').
